James Arthur

Hi Guys,

So recently we've found out the winner to the X Factor UK. The winner was James Arthur, he is an absolutely AMAZING singer. He's 23, he decided to audition last minute because his friend said he had nothing to lose. He had been doing small gigs in his hometown. He also writes his own songs, raps and plays guitar. He always makes a song his own. And the most astonishing is he used to be homeless at one time!

His voice may not be able to belt the highest, but his voice is incredible. He always performs the right song and makes it his own. Now, the X Factor has lost a lot of views over the past 2 years. But I think after this years, it will get a lot more views because the person that the public wanted to win actually has. His single out now is his cover of Impossible by Shontelle which has already reached number 1! The YouTube video is just below, this is his live performance when he just found out he won.

And you can buy his single on iTunes and tell all your friends about him! :D

Sorry it's a short blog, he's just so good and that's all you can say about him really, he's just amazing!

Sorry For No Blogs Recently!

Hi everyone,

So, sorry that I haven't put up any blogs recently, I had a bit of a break! So today is just about a band I really like. :) So the band is called You Me At Six, they make rock music. They're Brittish and got together in 2004. They became well known in 2008 with their debut album, take Off Your Colours. A popular song they've made is called Bite My Tongue ft. Oli Sykes. It's on the album called Sinners Never Sleep. Their most recent album.  I'd say the most well known song on that album is called Reckless. That's my favourite song by them on the album, or the song Loverboy. There are five members in the band. Josh Franceschi as lead singer, Max Helyer as rhythm guitarist and back up vocalist, Chris Miller as lead guitar, Matt Barnes as bass guitarist and Dan Flint who plays the drums. Dan Flint only joined in 2007, before him was Joe Phillips. If you want to go see them perform, they're performing at Wembley Arena on the 8th of December! If you've never heard of them before then you can listen to listen to they're music by buying it on iTunes or you can watch the video at the bottom. Hope you liked the blog :) Bye!

Interview with Amy Thomson

Hi Everyone!

So here's the interview with Amy Thomson! Who's the head of ATM artists!

When did you know you wanted to be a music manager?

I knew I wanted to be a music manager when I had my daughter.  I was 24 and I wanted to make sure she was properly provided for and this was something I was able to do from home and only have to go to the city once or twice a week.  I had worked in music shows and events since I was 15 and I liked the idea of marketing someone's career and helping them grow.

Who do you manage?

I manage Swedish House Mafia and bands like Groove Armada and music producers like Christian Karlsson.  My clients tend to be performers in their own rights, members of bands AND write music for other people like Britney Spears etc

What is the best part about your job?

The best part of my job is watching people grow.  Your clients grow in how they handle their talent but also how they handle themselves….and watching them grow is the best part.  I've been with some of my clients for ten years and I have seen some amazing changes in that time

What's the easiest and hardest part about your job?

The worst part is being away so much.  I miss my daughter and our dog a lot…and I miss having routine sometimes…like having Sunday lunch every week with our friends…I find jet lag very difficult too

Who would you say is the coolest person or company you've worked with so far?

The coolest person I have worked with so far?  I don't know to be honest.  I actually hate that people define 'cool' and I have seen many people be so affected by what is cool they forget what they actually like for themselves.  I hate that.  Like what you like….and never judge anyone on what they like…you have no idea what their influences are.

Do you try to talk to fans as much as possible?

Yes I talk to fans all the time through my clients channels.  I spend a lot of time on it.  They're not fans..they're clients / customers and their opinion is everything.  But…you have to be careful not to do things just to please them, that’s an easy trap to fall in to.  Stay true to yourself, treat your fans with respect and all will be fine.

What do you expect in an artist that you would want to sign?

I expect an artist to be open to me.  To share ideas and get into a groove with me so we can be creative together.  I like honestly and hard work and good morals and principles.

Do you prefer to sign vocal artists or DJs?

I just like artists.  I like Djs who produce because you never know what we'll be working on less, but working with acts like Florence & The Machine in my earlier career was a complete highlight.  Vocalists can be so captivating

Do you enjoy travelling a lot?

I like travelling a lot.  A lot of my friends are in the same boat so I see them more often in miami or LA than I do in London , but like I said, I miss my family…there's no place like home.

Hope you all liked the interview and I hope that helped a bit for your future career if that's your dream!

Bye!

I Want To Be A Singer SO BADLY!

Hi Everyone,

I'm really sorry but I still don't have the interview ready to give yet, I sent Amy the questions yesterday, but she was getting on a plane to come back to England from Miami! So I will go through the questions with her and you will hopefully have the interview with the questions and answers for the next blog! My blog today is talking about how I seriously want to be a singer! I mean, there is NOTHING else I want to be! I go to a school where they would probably want me to have an academic job when I'm older, but nothing like that appeals to me! I tend to write songs now and then, but I haven't shared them with anyone really. But recently I've been writing a song in my piano lessons, and I'm trying to perfect it going through my favourite songs and trying to make my song one that I think I would buy for my iPod. So I like to think that my progress is increasing! I like to think that my future is set, because my dad is a DJ, so he could help me with making my music, and my mum works for the music industry so maybe she could help me become known! One of the reasons I would like to be a singer is because I love to sing (I guess that expected!), and sometimes I go to gigs, and sometimes I've been backstage to see them perform, and when I do see them from back stage, I don't really watch the musical artist, I watch the crowd. I see them jumping higher than the sky and screaming their heads off having a great time, and when the music artist has finished their gig and says goodbye, the cheer that the crowd gives is unbelievable, and I can't even imagine how happy the artist must feel. That's why I want to be a singer.

If you have the same ambition as me please comment!  Check out the next blog for the interview with Amy Thomson!  Bye!

Inspiring Artist Number 2!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't got the interview together yet, it will be coming soon! So for now, I'm putting up an inspiring artist! This time, it's Ed Sheeran, I'm sure you've heard of him before, I think everyone has! His first song that he put out, was The A Team, which has become really famous! It's quite a calm song and one of those songs that at a concert you'll be slowly swaying your arms in the air with a massive smile on your face with your friends belting out the song with him while he's performing! My personal favourite that he's done is called You Need Me, I Don't need You, this is quite opposite to The A Team because it's quite fast and more of a song that gives you the urge to move around a bit, maybe in the kitchen, garden, or maybe just in your room by yourself so you don't get embarrassed! And then there's the song Lego House, which is a calm song like The A Team. In the music video, Rupert Grint is acting like he's Ed Sheeran, But turns out in the end to be a massive fan of him! Here's the video so you can check it out!

So I'll have the interview up soon! But this is what I've got for now!

Inspiring song Number 2!

Hey Everyone!

So today I'm putting up my Inspiring Song Number 2! The song this time is Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake!
I love this song! I've loved it ever since I was little! After you've played it once, it stays in your head for EVER! I also love it because it's not like a proper cheesy pop song! Justin Timberlake is now in the acting business, but I wish he would still make music because he was an AMAZING singer, and his music was incredible!

The video to his song Cry Me A River is on YouTube so go check it out! And if you end up loving it as much as me, then go buy it on iTunes for 99p!
